Ireland and Tango
In 1995 I moved to Ireland and began to study the cello, an instrument
I have always appreciated.
Aikido taught me that an engaged relationship with the subtle expressions of rhythm and flow in the body is key to experiencing health and harmony, and I felt that practicing such a sonorous musical instrument would bring me even closer to realising this vital connection.
It was here in Ireland that I met my life partner Ciara Ni Dhiomasagh and my journey towards wellbeing took another unexpected turn.
Together we took up the Argentine tango, a dance that fascinated me since it seemed to embody the same mysterious principles of relation that are palpable when practicing Aikido.
I immediately felt at home in my tango shoes, and after 7 years of intense study with Enrique Ringa, a remarkable master of the dance form, Ciara and I travel regularly to many wonderful tango events right across Europe and teach the dance within our local community.
