Fresh Hope
I was reminded of that sense of connected wholeness which animates the natural world. I aspired to develop these qualities in my own life and so I trained and lived close to Juo Ivamoto, trying to absorb and understand the essence I could feel in his presence.
He taught me Aikido and shared insights into Shiatsu techniques, a school of Japanese bodywork therapy with ancient origins. I studied with Juo until he returned to Japan where he spent the last years of his long life.
In the 27 years that have passed since then I have continued to practice and further my understanding of Aikido and it has been the basis for my explorations into music, dance and wellbeing.
